Church picnics bring congregations together outside the sanctuary to strengthen friendships, welcome new members, and enjoy fellowship in a relaxed setting. Brush Mountain Sportsmen's Association offers churches throughout Central Pennsylvania a peaceful outdoor venue where families can gather to share a meal, spend time together, and enjoy the beauty of God's creation.
Our scenic property provides a refreshing change of pace from everyday routines. Surrounded by mature trees, quiet ponds, flowing streams, and rolling hills, Brush Mountain creates an atmosphere where meaningful conversations and lasting relationships naturally develop. Whether your congregation is planning an annual church picnic, homecoming celebration, ministry gathering, youth event, or family fellowship day, our spacious grounds provide an inviting place for everyone to come together.
Our sportsmen's club features two covered pavilions that accommodate churches of many different sizes. The larger pavilion comfortably seats more than 360 guests, making it ideal for large congregations or multi-church fellowship events. The smaller pavilion seats over 130 guests and provides an excellent setting for smaller congregations, ministry groups, or seasonal gatherings.
One of the greatest advantages of hosting a church picnic at Brush Mountain is the welcoming environment for every generation. Children have room to play safely while parents and grandparents enjoy conversations with fellow church members. Youth groups can organize games and activities, while adults can relax, share meals, and strengthen friendships that extend beyond Sunday mornings.
Food has always been an important part of Christian fellowship, and our covered pavilions make it easy to organize potluck dinners, catered meals, barbecues, or traditional church picnic favorites. The spacious layout accommodates serving tables, dessert stations, beverage areas, and comfortable seating so everyone can enjoy the meal together.
Many churches use their annual picnic as an opportunity to welcome visitors and new members into the congregation. Brush Mountain's casual outdoor setting creates a comfortable environment where guests can meet church leaders, ministry volunteers, and other families without the formality of a worship service. Conversations happen naturally, helping people feel connected and included.
Our property also provides room for activities that make church picnics especially memorable. Congregations often organize volleyball games, cornhole tournaments, relay races, children's crafts, worship music, outdoor devotionals, Bible studies, or group singing. The flexibility of the venue allows each church to create an event that reflects its unique traditions and ministry goals.
The peaceful natural surroundings encourage guests to slow down and appreciate the beauty of the outdoors. Many visitors enjoy taking a walk around the property, visiting beside the ponds, or simply sitting beneath the pavilion while enjoying conversations with friends and fellow believers. These quiet moments often become some of the most meaningful parts of the day.
Conveniently located near Altoona and just off I-99, Brush Mountain is easy for members traveling from throughout Blair County and neighboring communities. Ample parking makes arrival simple for families with young children, senior adults, and guests who may be visiting for the first time.
Churches also appreciate the flexibility our venue provides for annual traditions. Whether your congregation hosts an end-of-summer picnic, celebrates a ministry milestone, honors graduates, welcomes a new pastor, recognizes volunteers, or simply enjoys an afternoon of fellowship, Brush Mountain provides the space to make the occasion meaningful and memorable.
At its heart, a church picnic is about spending time together, encouraging one another, and building stronger relationships within the congregation. Brush Mountain Sportsmen's Association offers a beautiful outdoor setting where churches can gather in comfort while enjoying God's creation and strengthening the bonds of community. We invite your congregation to reserve a date and experience a welcoming venue that has brought people together for generations.
